Group # 4: Our Community Group member: Edilberto Portillo Vilma Cabrera Dina Diaz Teaching Unit: Our Community UPN LIE 313: Materials Development Allyson Kellum February 12th, 2007 Made by: Dina Diaz Topic: Our Community The class is comprised of 15 students aged five to six. These students study English one hour daily, in their kindergarten. They only have one teacher and even do they are in a Spanish environment the kindergarten is bilingual so the teacher tries to speak English only. The classroom is equipped with a T.V., DVD player, a CD cassette player and a board. The students also have basic school supplies. Furthermore there is a access to a playground and lunch room. Upon completion of this unit, children will be able to recognize and identify the places of a community such as hospital, police station, fire station, school, etc. they will be also capable of recognize the most important occupations.
